Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Chunk Forge, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of ChunkForge, including any content, functionality, and services offered through the platform. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Description of Service
ChunkForge is a document processing platform that provides:
- PDF to Markdown conversion
- Semantic document chunking with multiple strategies
- Drag-and-drop chunk editing and organization
- Metadata enrichment and management
- Export to multiple formats (JSON, JSONL, CSV, Markdown)
Account Registration
To use ChunkForge, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Promptly notify us of any unauthorized access to your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to create an account and use the service.
Credit System and Billing
Credits
ChunkForge operates on a credit-based system. Different operations consume varying amounts of credits:
- PDF processing: 1 credit per document
- Basic chunking strategies: No additional credits
- Advanced chunking (semantic, hierarchical): Additional credits as indicated
Free Trial
New users receive a free trial with 2,000 credits. Trial credits expire 7 days after account creation and are non-transferable.
Subscriptions
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly at the rate displayed at the time of purchase. Subscriptions include a monthly credit allotment and automatic renewal unless canceled.
Overage Billing
If you exceed your monthly credit allotment, additional credits are billed automatically at the rate displayed in your account settings.
Refunds
Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law. Unused credits do not carry over between billing periods for subscription users.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use ChunkForge to:
- Process documents containing illegal content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
- Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Resell or redistribute the service without authorization
- Use automated means to access the service beyond intended API usage
Intellectual Property
Your Content
You retain all rights to the documents you upload and the content you create using ChunkForge. By using our service, you grant us a limited license to process your documents solely for the purpose of providing the service.
Our Service
ChunkForge, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Chunk Forge, LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the service.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to ChunkForge. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from service interruptions.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM
- WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF DOCUMENT PROCESSING RESULTS
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chunk Forge, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
Termination
You may cancel your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- We are required to do so by law
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period
Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
